Logging is bad for the enviroment
Logging in the Amazon is in theory, strictly controlled by licensing which allows timber to be harvested only in certain areas. However, the environmental group, Greenpeace, estimates that 60-80% of all logging in the Brazilian Amazon is illegal. Logging is bad for Brazills ecology and the rainforests act as a carbon sync and keep carbon dixoide at a reasonable level but with the rainforest gone, carbon dixoide levels are rising fast, seeping out of the soil and relesed from the tree stumps when burnt. Overall the logging of the rainforest is not great for the enviroment and should be stopped if the rainforest is to carry on being sustainable.
